February has blessed me with some small but exciting creative projects. One of them was a project I call “Lion Chess”. Commissioned by Robert Chan, the simple vector illustration was to feature a kingly lion head resting on a chess piece body. Robert sent me some examples of the style he was looking for and I proceeded to draw three variations of the concept in different styles: geometric and modern versus classical.
The client liked the first model very much. The final product, created entirely in Illustrator, can be seen below:
We had not initially anticipated to use the design without the chess piece body but the lion head worked so well by itself that, in the end, it serves as an alternative version.
Collaborative projects like these are always very pleasant and an opportunity for me to polish my skills. If you have an idea of your own you would like to see materialized, do not hesitate to contact me.
